Deliberate by nature.
Useful by design.

I bring design thinking to legal and compliance: understand how people work, make the decision clear, and build something they can use. Across industries and jurisdictions, my focus is the same: stronger trust, lasting capability, and the confidence to move forward.

01 / TRUST

Make the judgment clear.

Listen closely. Give leaders a recommendation they can understand and stand behind, with honest advice about the choices ahead.

02 / CAPABILITY

Build it into the work.

Connect agreements, decision authority, reporting channels, and training. Make good governance part of how the business operates.

03 / CONFIDENCE

Help people act.

Give teams practical tools, clear ownership, and a route to advice. Use technology and AI to remove friction while preserving accountability and human judgment.

Restore confidence.
Build the next chapter.

I have often joined organizations at an inflection point. Investigations. Acquisition integration. A pandemic. The upheaval surrounding military withdrawal. A business turnaround.

At Promontory, Uber / Careem, MOBY, and TriMark, the circumstances differed. The work shared a purpose: help people make sound decisions under pressure, strengthen accountability, and build the capability to move forward.

For me, a compliance comeback means making standards work in practice and creating room for the business to grow. Compliance succeeds or fails in operations.

Practical systems.
Lasting business capability.

The story behind
Mr. Deliberate.

“Mr. Deliberate” was my childhood nickname. I liked to work things through in order, often drawing ideas in the air as I thought. I also had a verbal stutter. Taking the time to find the sequence, picture the idea, and get the words out was part of how I made sense of the world.

That instinct still shapes my work. I draw things out, look for the order of operations, and design around the people who will use what we build.

Home is Minneapolis, with my wife Katie, our son Gus, and Chico, our Australian Shepherd.

Away from work, I’m drawn to distance running, gravel cycling, and photography. A past life in sound design still shapes how I think about rhythm, detail, and the experience of the person on the other side.

Different pursuits. A shared instinct: pay attention, stay curious, and be deliberate about what you make.
